ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the context of the affected user's browser session, potentially leading to session hijacking, credential theft, or other malicious actions.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Mitigation options include deploying a web application firewall (WAF) with XSS filtering, ensuring strict Content Security Policy (CSP) headers are in place, and manually patching the code to sanitize and encode user input in the Gallery Name parameter.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

No official remediation is available as flusity CMS ceased development as of February 2024. Users are advised to discontinue use or implement their own input sanitization and output encoding for the affected parameter.
