Missing Authorization Session Hijack in Ivanti Connect Secure / Policy Secure / ZTA Gateway / Neurons for Secure Access

IdentifiersCVE-2025-55145CWE-862· Missing Authorization

CVE-2025-55145 is a missing authorization vulnerability affecting Ivanti Connect Secure before 22.7R2.9 or 22.8R2, Ivanti Policy Secure before 22.7R1.6, Ivanti ZTA Gateway before 2.8R2.3-723, and Ivanti Neurons for Secure Access before 22.8R1.4. The flaw is in HTML5 connection/session handling: after authentication, the server does not properly verify whether the requesting user is authorized to access or control a targeted existing HTML5 session. As a result, a remote authenticated attacker can interact with session-management functionality in a way that allows hijacking of another user’s existing HTML5 connection.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated attacker to hijack existing HTML5 sessions belonging to other users. This can result in unauthorized access to active remote access sessions, interception or manipulation of session data, and use of the compromised session as a foothold for further activity. In enterprise remote access environments, this may enable unauthorized access to internal resources and facilitate lateral movement, depending on the privileges associated with the hijacked session.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

If immediate patching is not possible, reduce exposure of affected remote access infrastructure, restrict access to trusted users and networks where feasible, closely monitor authenticated activity against HTML5 session-management functionality, and review logs for anomalous session access or takeover behavior. Because exploitation requires valid credentials, enforcing strong authentication controls and minimizing unnecessary user access can reduce risk until patches are applied.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade affected products to fixed versions or later: Ivanti Connect Secure 22.7R2.9 or 22.8R2, Ivanti Policy Secure 22.7R1.6, Ivanti ZTA Gateway 2.8R2.3-723, and Ivanti Neurons for Secure Access 22.8R1.4. Cloud-based Neurons for Secure Access deployments were automatically patched on 2025-08-02; on-premises deployments require manual updating.
