Authentication Bypass in QNAP QHora-322 miro_webserver_controllers_api_login_singIn

IdentifiersCVE-2024-13088CWE-287· Improper Authentication

CVE-2024-13088 is an improper authentication vulnerability affecting QNAP QHora-322 routers running vulnerable QHora/QuRouter firmware prior to QuRouter 2.5.0.140. According to the provided advisory context, the flaw is located in the miro_webserver_controllers_api_login_singIn function and allows a network-adjacent attacker to bypass authentication without prior credentials. The issue permits authentication using an arbitrary QCloud account, resulting in unauthorized access to the device management context and compromise of system security.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows a network-adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to bypass authentication on an affected QNAP QHora-322 router. This can provide unauthorized access to administrative or protected functionality exposed after login, with resulting confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact described as low in the provided CVSS vector (C:L/I:L/A:L). In practical terms, the attacker gains unauthorized access to the system and can compromise the security of the device.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

If immediate patching is not possible, reduce exposure by restricting local/network-adjacent access to the router management interfaces, limiting access to trusted administrative networks only, and monitoring for unexpected authentication events or management access involving QCloud-linked login flows. Because the vulnerability is exploitable without prior authentication from a network-adjacent position, isolating management access is the primary interim mitigation until the firmware update can be applied.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade affected systems to QuRouter 2.5.0.140 or later. QNAP has stated that the vulnerability is fixed in QuRouter 2.5.0.140 and later, and remediation details are referenced in QNAP security advisory QSA-25-15.
