Command Injection in Tenda AC6 formSetIptv

IdentifiersCVE-2025-57296CWE-78

CVE-2025-57296 is a command injection vulnerability in Tenda AC6 router firmware version 15.03.05.19. The flaw is present in the formSetIptv function that handles requests to the /goform/SetIPTVCfg web interface. According to the provided content, the vulnerable code path processes the list and vlanId parameters and passes them through the sub_ADBC0 helper, which concatenates attacker-controlled input into nvram set system command strings and executes them via doSystemCmd. Because the input is not properly validated or sanitized, shell metacharacters such as ';', '"', and '#' can be injected, allowing arbitrary command execution on the device.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows arbitrary system command execution on the affected router. This can enable full compromise of the device, including modification of configuration, execution of additional malware, persistence establishment, traffic interception or redirection, and use of the router as a foothold for further activity such as botnet enrollment or lateral movement within the local network.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Restrict access to the router's web management interface, especially from untrusted networks and the internet. Disable remote administration if not required. Place the management interface behind trusted network boundaries, ACLs, or VPN-only access. Monitor for suspicious POST requests to /goform/SetIPTVCfg and for unexpected process execution or configuration changes on the device. Where possible, segment affected devices and reboot/reimage compromised routers before restoring trusted configuration.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade Tenda AC6 firmware to a fixed version if one is made available by the vendor. If no patched firmware is currently available, replace the affected firmware/device with a supported version or model not vulnerable to this issue. Vendor remediation should include strict server-side validation of the list and vlanId parameters and elimination of shell command construction with unsanitized user input, preferably by avoiding shell invocation entirely.
