Authentication Bypass in Noo JobMonster WordPress Theme

IdentifiersCVE-2025-5397CWE-287

CVE-2025-5397 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in the Noo JobMonster theme for WordPress affecting all versions up to and including 4.8.1. The issue is caused by the check_login() function failing to properly verify a user's identity before completing authentication. As a result, an unauthenticated attacker can bypass normal authentication controls and gain access to existing user accounts, including administrative accounts. The vulnerability is only exploitable when the theme's social login functionality is enabled.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows an unauthenticated attacker to bypass authentication and access administrative user accounts. This can result in full compromise of the affected WordPress site, including administrative control over site configuration, users, content, and potentially follow-on actions such as plugin or theme modification and broader site takeover.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

If immediate patching is not possible, disable social login in Noo JobMonster to remove the stated exploitation prerequisite. Additionally, restrict administrative access where possible, monitor for unexpected logins or account changes, audit for newly created administrator accounts or malicious modifications, and rotate credentials for privileged users after suspected exposure.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Update the Noo JobMonster theme to a version newer than 4.8.1 once a vendor-fixed release is available. Because the vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 4.8.1, affected installations should be treated as vulnerable until upgraded to a confirmed patched version. Administrators should also review administrative accounts and authentication logs for signs of unauthorized access.
