Cross-Site Scripting in Samsung Account

IdentifiersCVE-2025-58486CWE-79

CVE-2025-58486 is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Samsung Account application affecting Samsung Account versions prior to 15.5.01.1, including affected Samsung Galaxy S25 installations. The flaw is caused by improper validation of user-supplied data, allowing attacker-controlled input to be injected and executed as arbitrary script within the context of the current WebView. Public reporting associated with Pwn2Own and ZDI-26-224 indicates the issue can be triggered remotely against affected installations, does not require authentication, and results in script execution in the Samsung Account application context.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to execute arbitrary script in the context of the Samsung Account application's current WebView. This can expose application data available to that context, enable unauthorized actions on behalf of the user within the application session, and potentially support further device compromise depending on accessible interfaces and chained weaknesses. Reported scoring indicates low confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact, with user interaction required and no authentication needed.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Until the patch is applied, reduce exposure by limiting interaction with untrusted content or links that could be rendered by the Samsung Account application, restricting device access by untrusted users, and minimizing use of affected Samsung Account functionality in high-risk environments. Applying the vendor update is the primary mitigation.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade Samsung Account to version 15.5.01.1 or later. Samsung has released an update to correct the vulnerability; affected devices should apply the vendor-provided patch as soon as possible.
