CVE-2025-13823 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the IPv6 stack of Rockwell Automation Micro850 and Micro870 controllers. The issue is triggered when the controllers receive multiple malformed IPv6 packets, as identified during fuzzing. Successful triggering causes the controller to enter a recoverable fault state with fault code 0xFE60. The condition affects device availability rather than confidentiality or integrity, and recovery requires clearing the fault on the controller.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Apply Rockwell Automation's corrected firmware. The provided advisory indicates upgrading affected Micro850/870 controllers to fixed firmware, specifically L50E/L70E to V23.012 or later, and migrating LC50/LC70 variants to L50E/L70E V23.012. More generally, the supporting content also references Micro850/870 updates to V12.013 or later; operators should follow the vendor's current product-specific upgrade guidance for their exact hardware and firmware branch.
