Unauthenticated connectAP API on Tapo C200 V3 HTTPS service (Wi‑Fi config change / DoS)

IdentifiersCVE-2025-14300CWE-306· Missing Authentication for…

CVE-2025-14300 is a vulnerability in the TP-Link Tapo C200 V3 where the device’s HTTPS service exposes a connectAP interface/API endpoint without proper authentication. An unauthenticated attacker on the same local network segment can invoke this interface to modify the camera’s Wi‑Fi configuration, which can disconnect the device from its network and cause a denial-of-service condition.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

An unauthenticated local-network attacker can change the device’s Wi‑Fi configuration, leading to loss of connectivity and resulting denial-of-service (device becomes unreachable/management and streaming disrupted).

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Restrict access to the camera’s HTTPS management interface to trusted hosts only (e.g., isolate the device on an IoT/VLAN segment, block untrusted client access and inter-VLAN reachability to the camera’s HTTPS service), and monitor for suspicious management/API traffic targeting the connectAP interface.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Apply the vendor firmware update that remediates the exposed unauthenticated connectAP endpoint by adding proper authentication/authorization controls (per TP-Link guidance/release notes/FAQ).
