ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Information disclosure / privacy leak: identifying information could be exposed to Live Caller ID app extensions despite the extensions being disabled by the user.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

If immediate updating is not possible, reduce exposure by restricting/removing Live Caller ID apps/extensions (e.g., via MDM application controls) and limiting installation/use of third-party caller ID apps; do not rely on the “extensions turned off” state as a complete privacy control on vulnerable versions.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Update affected devices to iOS 26.3 / iPadOS 26.3 (or later), which include the improved checks that prevent identifying information from being provided to Live Caller ID app extensions when they are turned off.
