Lock-screen information disclosure via inconsistent UI state management in iOS/iPadOS Accessibility

IdentifiersCVE-2026-20645CWE-200

CVE-2026-20645 is an information disclosure issue in Apple iOS/iPadOS Accessibility caused by inconsistent user interface behavior due to improper/inconsistent state management. In affected versions, an attacker with physical access to a locked device may be able to view sensitive user information despite the device being locked. Apple addressed the issue by improving state management. The issue is fixed in iOS 26.3 and iPadOS 26.3, and in iOS 18.7.5 and iPadOS 18.7.5.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

An attacker with physical access to a locked iOS/iPadOS device may be able to view sensitive user information (lock-screen information disclosure).

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

No vendor workaround is described in the provided advisory content. Until patching, reduce risk by preventing unauthorized physical access to locked devices (e.g., maintain physical control, enforce strong device passcode/biometric policies, and minimize lock-screen data exposure where possible).

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Apply Apple’s security updates that include the fix: update to iOS 26.3 / iPadOS 26.3 or later, or iOS 18.7.5 / iPadOS 18.7.5 or later (as applicable to the device).
