Arbitrary File Deletion in Siemens SICAM SIAPP SDK

IdentifiersCVE-2026-25605CWE-73· External Control of File Name or…

CVE-2026-25605 affects Siemens SICAM SIAPP SDK in all versions prior to V2.1.7. The application performs file deletion operations without properly validating the supplied file path or deletion target. Because the path/target is not sufficiently restricted, an attacker may be able to cause the application to delete unintended filesystem objects, including files or sockets, so long as they are removable by the privileges of the affected process. The issue is therefore an arbitrary file deletion/path validation flaw that can be leveraged to disrupt application or system operation.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to delete files or sockets accessible to the vulnerable process. The primary impact is denial of service or service disruption, including interruption of application functionality, removal of required runtime artifacts, or deletion of IPC/socket endpoints needed for normal operation. Impact is bounded by the filesystem permissions of the affected process.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

If immediate patching is not possible, reduce the privileges of the affected process to limit what files and sockets it can delete, restrict any attacker-controlled input that can influence deletion paths or targets, and harden filesystem permissions so critical files and service sockets are not writable/removable by the application account. Additional compensating controls should focus on limiting access to interfaces that can trigger file deletion behavior.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade Siemens SICAM SIAPP SDK to V2.1.7 or later, as versions earlier than V2.1.7 are affected. Apply the relevant Siemens security bulletin fixes published on 2026-03-10.
