SQL Injection in n8n Data Table Get node

IdentifiersCVE-2026-33713CWE-89· Improper Neutralization of Special…

CVE-2026-33713 is a SQL injection vulnerability in n8n, the open source workflow automation platform, affecting versions prior to 1.123.26, 2.13.3, and 2.14.1. The flaw is in the Data Table Get node, specifically via the orderByColumn expression when it incorporates external or user-supplied input without proper sanitization. An authenticated user who has permission to create or modify workflows can inject malicious SQL into the node’s execution flow. The practical impact depends on the backend database: on the default SQLite deployment, exploitation is largely limited to manipulation of single statements; on PostgreSQL deployments, multi-statement execution is possible, substantially increasing impact.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated workflow author/editor to execute injected SQL against the n8n backend database. In SQLite deployments, the attack surface is more constrained and is primarily limited to single-statement manipulation and unauthorized data access. In PostgreSQL deployments, the vulnerability is more severe because multi-statement execution is possible, enabling unauthorized data modification and deletion. This can compromise integrity and availability of stored application data, and potentially expose sensitive information depending on database contents and node access patterns.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

If immediate upgrade is not possible, restrict workflow creation and editing permissions to fully trusted users only; disable the Data Table node by adding n8n-nodes-base.dataTable to the NODES_EXCLUDE environment variable; and review existing workflows for Data Table Get nodes where orderByColumn is set to an expression that includes external or user-supplied input. These measures are temporary only and do not fully eliminate the risk.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade n8n to a fixed release: 1.123.26, 2.13.3, 2.14.1, or any later version in the respective supported branch. This is the recommended and complete remediation.
