RediSearch query injection in Spring AI RedisVectorStore TAG filters

IdentifiersCVE-2026-22744CWE-74· Improper Neutralization of Special…

CVE-2026-22744 affects spring-ai-redis-store in Spring AI. In RedisFilterExpressionConverter, when a user-controlled string is used as a filter value for a TAG field, the stringValue() logic inserts that value directly into the RediSearch TAG query fragment in the form @field:{VALUE} without escaping special characters. Because TAG filter values are incorporated into RediSearch query syntax without proper neutralization, an attacker can craft input that breaks out of the intended literal TAG value context and injects additional query syntax. The issue affects Spring AI versions from 1.0.0 before 1.0.5 and from 1.1.0 before 1.1.4.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows RediSearch query injection in RedisVectorStore filter expressions. An attacker who can control TAG filter values may alter query semantics, bypass intended filtering restrictions, broaden result sets, and potentially access unintended data returned by vector store searches. Based on the provided content, the documented impact is query manipulation and unintended data access; remote code execution is not indicated for this CVE.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

No official workaround is provided in the supplied content. As a temporary risk reduction measure, do not pass untrusted input directly into TAG field filters, and strictly validate or escape user-supplied TAG values before constructing RedisVectorStore filter expressions until patched versions are deployed.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade spring-ai-redis-store to a fixed release. The affected ranges are Spring AI 1.0.0 through 1.0.4 and 1.1.0 through 1.1.3. Remediate by updating to 1.0.5 or later on the 1.0.x branch, or 1.1.4 or later on the 1.1.x branch.
