Linux kernel AppArmor policy namespace resource exhaustion
CVE-2026-23405 is a local denial-of-service vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AppArmor subsystem. AppArmor policy namespaces were not bounded independently and the implementation relied on user namespace limits, even though AppArmor policy namespaces are not strictly tied to user namespaces. As a result, a local attacker with low privileges could create AppArmor policy namespaces and nest them arbitrarily deep, consuming kernel/system resources. The issue was fixed by hard-capping AppArmor policy namespace depth to the same maximum depth as user namespaces.
