Stack-based Buffer Overflow in TRENDnet TEW-432BRP formResetStatistic

IdentifiersCVE-2026-10161CWE-121· Stack-based Buffer Overflow

CVE-2026-10161 is a remotely exploitable stack-based buffer overflow in TRENDnet TEW-432BRP firmware 3.10B20. The flaw affects the formResetStatistic function exposed via the /goform/formResetStatistic endpoint. According to the provided content, improper handling of the status_statistic argument allows an attacker to supply crafted input that overflows a stack buffer. Public exploit information is available. The affected product is end-of-life and no longer supported by the vendor.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation can crash the affected router process or device, resulting in denial of service. Because the flaw is a stack-based buffer overflow in a remotely reachable handler, exploitation may also permit arbitrary code execution in the context of the vulnerable service, with corresponding compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability on the device.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

If immediate replacement is not possible, reduce exposure by removing remote access to the device management interface, restricting access to /goform/formResetStatistic to trusted administrative networks only, isolating the device from untrusted networks, applying firewall or ACL controls to limit reachability, and monitoring for suspicious requests targeting the vulnerable endpoint. Because no patch exists, long-term mitigation requires decommissioning the device.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

There is no vendor fix available. TRENDnet stated the TEW-432BRP has been end-of-life since 2009 and the company is unable to replicate or remediate the issue. The practical remediation is to replace the affected TEW-432BRP running firmware 3.10B20 with a supported product.
