CVE-2026-41860 is a vulnerability in BOSH, specifically in bosh-monitor, caused by hard-coded use of OpenSSL::SSL::VERIFY_NONE in the HttpRequestHelper#create_async_endpoint and HttpRequestHelper#send_http_get_request_synchronous methods. This disables TLS certificate verification for outbound HTTPS connections, allowing an attacker positioned to intercept local network traffic to perform a man-in-the-middle attack against communications between bosh-monitor and the BOSH Director or UAA. As a result, the attacker can observe or tamper with protected traffic, including stealing Basic-auth credentials and redirecting UAA token requests. The issue affects all BOSH versions prior to 282.1.9 and is fixed in 282.1.9 and later.

Successful exploitation allows a local attacker with the ability to intercept relevant traffic to defeat the intended TLS protections on bosh-monitor communications. This can lead to theft of Basic-auth credentials, interception or redirection of UAA token requests, and manipulation of trust-sensitive communications between bosh-monitor and the BOSH Director or UAA. Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

If immediate upgrade is not possible, reduce exposure by preventing attacker access to the local network path between bosh-monitor and the BOSH Director/UAA, enforcing strict network segmentation, and monitoring for anomalous certificate or proxy behavior on those connections. Because the root cause is disabled certificate verification in application code, mitigation is only partial until the product is upgraded.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade BOSH to version 282.1.9 or later. The fixed release removes or corrects the insecure hard-coded OpenSSL::SSL::VERIFY_NONE behavior in the affected HttpRequestHelper methods so that TLS certificate validation is properly enforced.
