Cross-origin information disclosure in Apple WebKit

IdentifiersCVE-2026-43700CWE-346

CVE-2026-43700 is a cross-origin vulnerability in Apple WebKit affecting Safari 26.5.2 prior versions, iOS 26.5.2 prior versions, iPadOS 26.5.2 prior versions, and macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 prior versions. Apple states the issue was caused by insufficient tracking of security origins. Processing maliciously crafted web content can cause WebKit to mishandle origin boundaries and disclose sensitive user information across origins.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

A remote attacker controlling malicious web content can trigger cross-origin information disclosure in the browser context. Successful exploitation may expose sensitive user information that should be isolated by the same-origin policy or related origin-based security controls.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Until patches can be applied, reduce exposure by limiting use of untrusted websites and web content in affected Safari/WebKit-based environments. Enterprise defenders can also reduce risk through web filtering, restricting access to untrusted sites, and prioritizing patch deployment on internet-facing user endpoints. No vendor-provided workaround beyond updating is available in the provided content.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade to the fixed releases provided by Apple: Safari 26.5.2, iOS 26.5.2, iPadOS 26.5.2, and macOS Tahoe 26.5.2.
