CVE-2022-31358 is a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability in Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE) prior to v7.2-3, specifically affecting the API Inspector functionality exposed under /api2/html/. When a request is made to a non-existent endpoint beneath /api2/html/, user-controlled path data is reflected into an HTML href attribute without proper escaping. This allows crafted input to break out of the attribute context and inject attacker-controlled script or HTML into the response. The issue is described as post-authentication because successful exploitation requires the victim to be logged into the PVE web interface in the same browser session.
