CVE-2025-59358 is a missing authentication vulnerability in the Chaos Controller Manager component of Chaos Mesh. The controller exposes a GraphQL debugging server, enabled by default in affected deployments, to the Kubernetes cluster network via its service. The exposed "/query" endpoint does not enforce authentication or authorization, allowing any in-cluster user or workload with network reachability to access the GraphQL API. Through this interface, an attacker can enumerate available operations and invoke mutations such as process-kill functionality against arbitrary Kubernetes pods. Because the controller can direct fault injections across the cluster, the flaw allows unauthorized use of native Chaos Mesh capabilities to terminate processes in targeted pods, including critical control-plane or application workloads, resulting in cluster-wide denial of service.

A set of four serious vulnerabilities in Chaos Mesh's Chaos Controller Manager GraphQL server caused by inadequate authentication, which could enable arbitrary command execution and full Kubernetes cluster takeover.
A missing authentication vulnerability in Chaos-Mesh's exposed Controller Manager GraphQL server that allows in-cluster attackers to access the /query endpoint and trigger fault injections, leading to denial of service across arbitrary pods and potentially the Kubernetes API server.
An authentication bypass vulnerability in Chaos Mesh that can allow unauthenticated access to the mutation endpoint and amplify the impact of CVE-2025-59360.
A related vulnerability in Chaos Mesh that provides the initial access vector and can be chained with CVE-2025-59361 to achieve cluster-wide remote code execution.
