Unauthenticated Arbitrary File Read in Citrix NetScaler ADC and NetScaler Gateway Management Interfaces

IdentifiersCVE-2026-10816CWE-73

CVE-2026-10816 is an unauthenticated arbitrary file read vulnerability affecting Citrix NetScaler ADC and NetScaler Gateway. The issue is described as external control of a file name or path (CWE-73), allowing attacker-controlled path input to be used to read files from the appliance. Exploitation is possible when access to the NSIP, Cluster Management IP, or a SNIP with management access enabled is exposed. The flaw does not require authentication and can allow retrieval of arbitrary files from the affected system via management-accessible interfaces.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to read arbitrary files from the affected NetScaler appliance. Depending on the files accessible to the vulnerable component, this can expose sensitive configuration data, credentials, keys, tokens, system information, or other internal files useful for follow-on compromise, privilege escalation, or lateral movement. The issue affects confidentiality directly; no direct integrity or code-execution impact is stated in the provided material.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Restrict, disable, or otherwise prevent unnecessary access to the NSIP, Cluster Management IP, and any SNIP with management access enabled, especially from untrusted networks, until fixed builds are deployed. Review appliance configuration to determine whether management access is enabled on these interfaces and reduce exposure through network ACLs, segmentation, or administrative access restrictions.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade affected systems to fixed Citrix builds: NetScaler ADC and NetScaler Gateway 14.1-72.61 or later; NetScaler ADC and NetScaler Gateway 13.1-63.18 or later in the 13.1 branch; NetScaler ADC 14.1-FIPS 14.1-72.61 FIPS or later; and NetScaler ADC 13.1-FIPS / 13.1-NDcPP 13.1-37.272 or later. Apply the vendor security bulletin updates across all affected appliances.
