CVE-2026-23293 is a Linux kernel vulnerability in the VXLAN networking subsystem. When a system is booted with the kernel parameter 'ipv6.disable=1', IPv6 initialization exits early in inet6_init() before ndisc_init() runs, leaving the IPv6 neighbor discovery table (nd_tbl) uninitialized. If an IPv6 packet is then injected into a VXLAN interface, the VXLAN transmit path can reach route_shortcircuit(), which proceeds into neigh_lookup() and dereferences the missing neighbor table, causing a kernel NULL pointer dereference. The published trace shows the crash in neigh_lookup(), reached from vxlan_xmit(). The fix adds an early check in route_shortcircuit() for ETH_P_IPV6 traffic to avoid this path when IPv6 is disabled.
