CVE-2026-46244 is a flaw in the Linux kernel netfilter nft_inner logic, specifically in nft_inner_parse_l2l3() when parsing inner IPv6 packets. The code calls ipv6_find_hdr(), which correctly walks IPv6 extension headers and computes the actual transport header offset, but that result is then incorrectly overwritten with nhoff + sizeof(struct ipv6hdr) (40 bytes), which reflects only the IPv6 base header. This causes a desynchronization where inner_thoff points to the start of the extension-header area while l4proto reflects the real upper-layer protocol such as TCP. The mismatch can allow crafted inner IPv6 packets with extension headers to cause transport-header parsing inconsistencies and enable forged interpretation of the transport header by filtering logic. The issue affects stable Linux kernel versions from 6.2.
