Improper Authorization in IBM Langflow OSS Streamable MCP Transport Endpoint

IdentifiersCVE-2026-7664CWE-285

CVE-2026-7664 is a critical improper authorization vulnerability affecting IBM Langflow OSS versions 1.0.0 through 1.8.4. The flaw is in the Streamable MCP transport endpoint, where authorization enforcement is insufficient. As a result, unauthenticated remote attackers can access protected MCP project resources and execute MCP operations without being properly authorized. The issue is remotely exploitable over the network and does not require user interaction or prior authentication.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows an unauthenticated attacker to bypass intended access controls on MCP-related functionality in Langflow OSS. This can expose protected MCP project resources and permit execution of MCP operations, resulting in high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact. Based on the provided severity data, the vulnerability is critical with CVSS v3.1 9.8.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Until patching is completed, restrict network access to the Streamable MCP transport endpoint and limit access to MCP project resources to trusted users and systems only. If possible, place the affected service behind strong authentication and network-layer access controls to reduce exposure of the vulnerable endpoint.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade IBM Langflow OSS to a fixed version newer than 1.8.4 once the vendor-provided fix is available. Apply IBM/vendor security patches addressing the improper authorization flaw in the Streamable MCP transport endpoint. Validate that the deployed version is no longer within the affected range of 1.0.0 through 1.8.4.
