Thirty-four physical casinos in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, received approximately $1.07 billion in cryptocurrency between January 1 and September 7, 2026, despite government crackdowns on scam compounds and U.S. sanctions against associated networks, TRM Labs reported. Casinos linked to networks designated by the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control accounted for $687 million in inflows. Three casino entities received approximately $322 million after their respective designation dates, indicating continued financial activity despite sanctions.
USDT on TRON represented 99.9% of tracked inflows, while casinos and local businesses continued providing crypto-to-cash conversion with little apparent customer due diligence. Although monthly inflows declined, TRM Labs cautioned that wallet rotation could partly explain the decrease and limit the completeness of address-based tracking. The firm recommended monitoring indirect exposure to Cambodian casino and commercial networks rather than relying solely on static lists of sanctioned cryptocurrency addresses.
