CVE-2026-40138 is a critical pre-authentication vulnerability in the authentication subsystem of BeyondTrust Remote Support (RS) and Privileged Remote Access (PRA). The flaw is caused by improper validation of authentication data, which can allow a network-positioned attacker to bypass access controls and obtain unauthorized access to the appliance without valid credentials. Available reporting indicates the issue affects RS and PRA version 25.3.2 and earlier, and that exploitation is only possible when a specific authentication configuration is enabled. Successful exploitation may expose the appliance itself and permit access to accounts with elevated privileges.
