Jenkins Active Directory Plugin 2.41 and earlier follows LDAP referrals from the configured Active Directory server by default. An attacker who controls the configured Active Directory/LDAP server, or who can perform a machine-in-the-middle attack on the LDAP connection, can cause Jenkins to follow a malicious referral to an attacker-controlled endpoint. The advisory specifically notes referral targets such as RMI URLs. In the context of CVE-2026-48918, this behavior results in Jenkins initiating unintended outbound connections, i.e., an SSRF condition.
